Bereavement Services
“We cannot go around the pain that is the wilderness of our grief. Instead, we must journey all through it.”
– Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph.D
After a client has died, their beloved ones will each experience grief in individual ways, and yet may be able to find support together through bereavement services such as grief rituals, which encourage and allow a collective experience of mourning, an outward expression of the complex emotions which make up grief.
Many people will not know what to say upon learning of a recent loss, or may say the wrong thing despite good intentions, and so it can be freeing to create an intentional experience to allow a mindful space and time to indulge in the feelings which are happening anyway, whatever that might look like for each mourner. Sometimes this is relief that suffering is ended, or sadness that a beloved one is now gone from us, or even numbness, or a lack of knowing how we feel. All of this is grief, and it is welcome in the spaces that we cultivate, where my sacred calling is not to guide those who are left behind, but to companion them on the journey of mourning.
